{"id":754,"date":"2017-02-06T14:15:01","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T03:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/?p=754"},"modified":"2021-01-30T09:26:41","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T22:26:41","slug":"slow-cooked-spicy-lamb-shoulder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/index.php\/2017\/02\/06\/slow-cooked-spicy-lamb-shoulder\/","title":{"rendered":"Slow cooked spicy lamb shoulder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-755 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/lamb-spicy-shoulder-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/lamb-spicy-shoulder-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/lamb-spicy-shoulder-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/monrealescookinginspirations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/lamb-spicy-shoulder.jpg 736w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>This spicy lamb shoulder is absolutely delicious&#8230;it is melt-in-your-mouth lamb with a fantastic spicy zing!\u00a0 Great as pulled lamb served on flatbread with coleslaw the next day&#8230;.two meals out of one!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lamb shoulder<\/li>\n<li>1 brown onion, quartered<\/li>\n<li>200mls water<\/li>\n<li>fresh parsley to garnish<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp cumin<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tbsp Spanish smoked paprika<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tbsp sumac<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc tsp\u00a0ground ginger<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tbsp grated ginger<\/li>\n<li>2 garlic cloves, chopped &amp; crushed with the blade of a knife<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tbsp sea salt flakes (less if it is finely ground)<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp fresh lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>2\u00bd tbsp olive oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method:-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine the cumin, paprika, sumac, cinnamon, ground\u00a0and grated ginger, garlic cloves, pepper and salt.<\/li>\n<li>Add the olive oil and lemon juice.<\/li>\n<li>Make lots of slits in the lamb with a sharp knife, and rub the paste in all over pressing it into the slits.\u00a0 If you have time let it marinate for 4 hours in fridge.\u00a0 (If you chose not to\u00a0this it will still be fine,\u00a0but it will give more flavour).<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Place the lamb in a baking dish fat side up, and place onion quarters around, and pour the water into the dish, not over the lamb.\u00a0 Cover with foil.<\/li>\n<li>Place dish in BBQ in the middle, with the jets on low at the sides not under the lamb, temperature should be around 170\u00b0C.\u00a0 Roast for 2\u00bd hours with foil on, then remove foil and roast for another 2 hours, or until lamb is tender and pulls away easily\u00a0from the bone.<\/li>\n<li>Serve on a platter with fresh chopped parsley sprinkled over.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Enjoy!\u00a0 Please leave a comment below and\/or on the Instagram page to let me know how you liked it<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>NOTE:- This recipe can be done in the oven the same way, or in a slow cooker for about 6-7 hours with no changes to the ingredients, water or method.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This spicy lamb shoulder is absolutely delicious&#8230;it is melt-in-your-mouth lamb with a fantastic spicy zing!\u00a0 Great as pulled lamb served on flatbread with coleslaw the next day&#8230;.two meals out of one!
